"I Am..."

By Jenni Schubring, Director of Women’s Ministries
There are many Camp Phillip staff who love Survivor as well. In fact, there is a family from Camp Phillip summer staff alumni who host a finale party every season. There are immunity idols, challenges, votes, tribal councils, auctions, and a whole lot of fun. The most recent finale was a couple of weeks ago for Survivor season 50! I found an immunity idol, made an alliance, won challenges, and defended my gameplay at the final tribal council.
I got the most votes and won. I didn't get $2 million the show winner won, but I did win the title of Sole Survivor. I am the Sole Survivor...(until next season).
I am...
"I am ______" is all about our identity. How do you fill in the blank?
I am a wife
I am a mom
I am a daughter
I am a sister
I am a friend
I am the women's ministry director
I am a life coach
I am season 50's sole survivor
These are good things. What about things I say to myself that aren't so good?
I am lazy
I am stupid
I am out of shape
I am broken
How do you fill in the blank? What I AM statements do you say? to yourself? to others?
I think we all have a variety of words to fill in that blank. But what words really matter? Where does our true identity come from? I am loved I am God's child I am the daughter of the King
You may not be able to say that you're the Sole Survivor like me, but for certain, you can say that you are God's child. And that's the only identity you need.
How would your life change if your sole identity was wrapped in the fact that you are God's child?
Worth pondering. Worth believing.
I am sorry if you aren't familiar with Survivor. You won't understand how cool it is to be named the Sole Survivor. But that's okay, because even as cool as that is, it has nothing on
...being loved
...being God's child
...being a daughter of the King
