What Do They Know in Heaven?

By Dr. John Parlow“Do they know?”This is  the question people sometimes ask about their loved ones who have died and gone to heaven. “Do they know what's happening in my life on this earth while they're in heaven?”This is one of those occasions where the Bible really doesn't give us an answer. Some people will point to Revelation 6:10, which talks about people who were martyred for the faith asking God, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?” (NIV)That passage certainly indicates that the people in heaven know that Judgment Day hasn't come yet. But there's no indication from that passage that they are aware of specific events occurring on earth – in your life or in mine. So, the Bible simply doesn't answer that question. I always think about the fact that both of my grandmas are in heaven. Do I really want them to be watching me all the time? I think I would cause them sadness in a place where there is no sadness.
